Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Earns First Conference Win

The ACPHS men's soccer team hung on for a 1-0 win over the Five Towns College Sound on Sunday, but not before five total players were given red cards in just 67 minutes of game action. The win was Albany's first conference win of the year, as they now hold a mark of 1-2 in the HVIAC and 2-4 overall. This was FTC's first loss of the year, and they now stand at 3-1-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference.

Both Albany and Five Towns came out firing in this one, pressing high and trading possession back and forth as they each tried to establish control in what would be an important conference game. The game's only goal came in the ninth minute off of a penalty kick goal from Albany's senior captain Noah Keith, his team-leading third goal of the year.

ACPHS would then concede a penalty of their own in the 13th minute, which Five Towns forward Adrian Wong fired passed sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Hobson. The goal was disallowed though, as the referee ruled that an FTC player entered the penalty box too early. Hobson was up to the task during the second attempt, guessing correctly and palming away Wong's effort to keep the Panther lead intact.

The remainder of the game saw chances for both sides, but the game would end with the Panthers in the lead.

In the stats department, FTC outshot the Panthers 16-14 and hit the crossbar twice. Hobson made six saves en route to his first shutout of the year.

ACP will be back in action this Thursday, September 26th, when they host Vaughn College at 5:30 PM.
