Box Score Concord, N.H. – The ACPHS women's soccer team dropped to (6-2-2) after losing to New Hampshire Technical Institute 1-2 on the road Saturday afternoon.
First period breakdown
Right after the kickoff, things took a turn for the worse for the Panthers. NHTI scored 15 minutes into the match – placing the ball right past the goalie and sinking the score into the left side of the net. Ten minutes later, the opposition made it 2-0, giving ACPHS a difficult feat to overcome in the second period.
Second period recap
Coming out of the locker room, midfielder Shannon Donnelly (Bethlehem, N.Y.) sunk a 25-foot shot right over the goalkeeper's head – giving the Panthers their first and only score of the afternoon. Getting outplayed in the first half was too much for ACPHS to bounce back from – something this group will need to work on before the start of the postseason.
Who stood out?
It is difficult to single out a particular player in this admirable showing. However, the player who impressed most for ACPHS seemed to be Donnelly – who scored her fourth goal of the season. Donnelly, although not the first option on the offensive side of the ball, has proved that she always needs to be watched, or else she could run up the score.
What was said after the Game?
Following today's affair, Coach Jonathan Woodrow shared his thoughts: "We have to do better; no more weak teams going forward. They outplayed us the whole first half. We came out strong in the second half and outperformed them, a little too late. We must do better and bring it from here on out."
When do they play next?
The Panthers are back home Wednesday, Oct. 19, when they host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in their regular season finale.
