Box Score South Portland, M.E. – The ACPHS Men's Soccer team improved to 3-2-1 after winning on the road against Southern Maine Community College 1-0 Saturday afternoon.
In the first period, both teams battled to a tie. Although the Seawolves were able to outshoot the Panthers 9-6, ACPHS's defense held strong – ensuring Southern Maine didn't get going early.
In the remaining 45-minutes of play, the physicality continued. Both teams in this hard-fought match remained scoreless until the 85-minute mark. It was at this point where Senior Charles Middleton (Syracuse, N.Y.) found Midfielder Firaas Anis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) for the one and only goal of the game.
After the win, Coach John Adeseko spoke about his team's effort: "This was a great conference win on the road. The windy conditions were tough, we had guys banged up and hurting, but we toughed it out. We had to push Chuck up a little higher in the last 10 minutes, and we were able to capitalize on some good chances. We must get back to the training ground and improve for the next game."
The Panthers will look to make it two straight when they host Springfield Technical Community College Thursday, September 29th.
