Women's Soccer Ties in Road Battle

Box Score

South Portland, M.E. – The ACPHS Women's Soccer team dropped to 4-1-1 after tying on the road against Southern Maine Community College 2-2 Saturday afternoon.

Desiree Veilleux struck first for the Seawolves – scoring an unassisted goal 16 minutes into the game. Southern Maine made it 2-0 after Chanelle McDonough's goal. Despite the tough start, YSCC player of the week Julia Roemer (Latham, N.Y.) brought ACPHS back to life – scoring back-to-back goals in a matter of three minutes late in the first period.

The story of the second half was all defense; both teams remained scoreless. ACPHS continued their exceptional pass-and-move offense. However, various defensive game planning from the Seawolves kept the Panthers off the board.

"Not the result we wanted. A lot of factors against us today, extremely windy conditions and a very small field that hindered our game plan. They were doubling Julia most of the game, so we had to switch things up a bit. The girls showed a lot of heart and came back from being down two. We'll be back at it at home next week, consistency the whole way – game by game," said Coach Jonathan Woodrow after today's game.

The Panthers will look to get back on track when they host SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday, September 28th.
