Women's Soccer Drops Season Opener

Box Score

Albany, N.Y. – The ACPHS Women's Soccer team fell 1-7 Saturday afternoon in their regular season debut against NCAA Division III Pratt Institute.

Despite an early goal from Senior Forward Julia Roemer (Latham, N.Y.) and a solid defensive effort in the first half– it was the beginning of the end for the Panthers after Katherine Thomsen put up the first points for the Cannoneers with two minutes remaining in the first period.

In the final 45 minutes of play, ACPHS would remain scoreless, and Pratt Institute would go on to convert six of their 14 shots. Thomsen proved to be too much for the Panthers – racking up three more goals in the second half.

After the game, Coach Jonathan Woodrow gave his thoughts on how he plans to turn things around for next week's game, "The message for the season from start to finish is consistency. We talked about it before the game, and we have a couple of key points we like to stick to – consistency is one of them. Everything has to be consistent, whether it be training, hydration, or work in the weight room. So, we'll recover tomorrow and get back to consistency; that's the overarching theme for the season."

The Panthers will look to redeem themselves Thursday, September 8th when they host Fulton Montgomery Community College at 7 p.m.
