Utica, NY - The Panther Track Season kicked-off with some impressive performances at Utica University of Saturday. All told, the Panthers posted eight all-time records across all phases of competition.
Leading the pack was Ethan Nigro (Kingston, NY), setting new school records in all three events he competed in. Nigro started the meet off with a new record in the Triple-Jump, becoming the first Panther to surpass the 40ft mark (12.44m). He then followed it up almost immediately with a new 60m hurdle record (8.95s), and long jump record (5.93m).
Ryan Haak (Depew, NY) picked up exactly where he left off last year, first setting a new program record in the 60m dash (7.00s) on his way to a 1st place overall finish over top NCAA division III and II competition. Haak also reset the program record in the 200m dash with a time of 23.60.
The Men's 4 x 400 team of Sam Rowley (Queensbury, NY), Charles Middleton (Syracuse, NY), Tyler Buffolino (Ridge, NY) and the aforementioned Ryan Haak pipped the school record, establishing a new time of 4:00.82.
On the Women's side there were a host of first-time performances, especially in the throws. Jaiah Barrett, Keyanna Clark, Samantha Marion, and Aditi Rathor all got the first throws and first PRs of their college careers. Audrey DeGraw (Parish, NY) set a new PRs in the shotput and weight throw, while the aforementioned Marion, established a new school record in the weight throw.
Freshman Kayleigh Simpson (Utica, NY) picked up where she left off in her Cross-Country season with the rookie establishing a new program record in the mile (6:59.69)
