Marlboro, NY - Low Temps and Rain didn't dampen any spirits as the Panthers kicked off the Outdoor season at Mount Saint Mary's on Saturday.
Ethan Nigro (Kingston, NY) kicked off the meet with his first of two record breaking performances. In the Triple Jump, Ethan bested the previous Panther best by over two feet on his way to a first place overall finish. He then followed up that performance by taking two tenths of a second off his own 110m hurdle record, which was good enough for second. Ethan also finished first in the long jump with a mark of 6.17m.
Fellow Panther
Ryan Haak (Depew, NY) kicked off his campaign where he left off last year, claiming an individual win in the 100m dash, with a time of 11.12s, the second fastest time this year in the USCAA.
Richard Serafin (Oneonta, NY) set a new PR in the shotput with his first throw of 10.04m
On the Women's side,
Dhatri Sangasani (Scarsdale, NY) took home an individual win in the triple jump and 2nd place finish in the 100m hurdles.
Morgan Scarzafava (Middletown, NY) set a new PR in the 800m with a time of 2:55.
Keyanna Clark (Cobleskill, NY) and
Ka'ena Kehano (Wailuku, HI) set new PRs in the shot put and 200m dash respectively.
Overall the day saw a tone of great performances to start the season. Coach Dikeman said, "It's extremely encouraging to see what we saw today in spite of the weather. The USCAA is deeper this year we have to make sure we are at our best when we meet them in April. Today was a really good start and I'm excited for the season."
The Panthers return on Saturday in Clinton, NY at the Continental Invitational hosted by Hamilton College.
