Troy, NY - A rare, hot mid-April day provided great conditions for your Panthers to produce a bevvy of personal bests and school records.
The action started with the throws where a trio of Panthers set PRs. Logan Zara (Broadalbin, NY) extended his personal best in the discus, while Richard Serafin (Oneonta, NY) extended his personal best in the shotput. Zara's mark put him in the top-5 in the USCAA, while Serafin cracked the top-10 with is mark. Timothy Hudson (Hanford, CA) set a new PR and school records in the Discus with his first effort over 40m, ending the day with a mark of 41.33m. Hudson also extended his own school record in the hammer with a mark of 39.89m Both marks see Hudson move to the top of the USCAA leaderboard.
On the track, the strong performances continued. Erica Scholl (Frankfort, NY) and Ayo Momoh (Abuja, Nigeria) each took huge chunks off their PRs to run 13.79, an 15.41 respectively. Both went on to also PR in the 200m under the lights. Ka'ena Kehano (Wailuku, HI) hit new PRs in the 200 and 400m, as did Charles Middleton (Syracuse, NY). Roberto Velez-Diaz (Ponce, PR) debuted and PR'ed in the 200m dash, with fellow debutant Michael Dean (New Windsor, NY) PR'ed in the 400m dash, ending up just off the Panther record in a time of 53.14s. Morgan Scarzafava (Middletown, NY) set a new all-time PR in the women's 5k, finishing in 23:57. Marina Duszak (New Milford, CT) took a run at some shorter races and Pr'ing in the 1500.
Several school records fell on Friday starting in the men's 110 hurdles. Ethan Nigro (Kingston, NY) set a new program best of 16.04s, a time that sees him at the top of the USCAA leaderboard. Nigro would take two more records, dropping the 1st sub-60 second time in Panthers history in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.79. Finally came the triple jump, where Nigro jumped 12.94m in finals to better the Panther best. On the women's side Dhatri Sangasani (Scarsdale, NY), took down one of the oldest Panther records, moving her triple jump mark, and new Panther best to 10.27m.
Your Panthers will run again next week, on Friday at the Bobbi Palma Classic at UAlbany.
