Newark, NJ - The Panthers ran down to New Jersey for a meet and ran a bunch of PRs (again).
The women ran a 5K race first in a very deep field with 33 total schools, led by freshman Ophelia Breen (Peru, NY) who finished with a time of 22:09 in her 5K debut. After Breen came junior Kayleigh Simpson (Utica, NY) who clocked in a time of 25:40. Following Simpson was sophomore Krystal Ogoke and freshman Katie Bishop who both made their 5K debuts, running times of 27:48 and 38:48, respectively. Finishing in between Ogoke and Bishop was Giselle Campbell (Liverpool, NY) who ran a PR with a time of 30:47.
Similar to the women, the men's race was also very deep as this race had 31 total schools. However, the men ran an 8K rather than a 5K. Leading the way was Tyler Buffolino (Ridge, NY) with a personal best of 30:59 followed by Harrison Matthews (Peru, NY) at 33:29. Next came sophomore Dylan Wang (Glenmont, NY) at 35:31 right in front of junior Andy Tran (Vietnam) who ran a personal best (by over 2.5 minutes!) of 35:35. Daniel Le rounded out the men with a time of 40:48.
The Panthers used the week off last week to prepare for today which resulted in three PRs for the team. They'll have the week off again next week, hoping to set even more PRs the following meet at the YSCC Championships on 10/26 in Amherst, MA.
