Amherst, MA - The Panthers went back to Hampshire College on Saturday, but this time it was the YSCC Conference Championships.
The women ran first in a 6K race in which
Ophelia Breen (Peru, NY) finished 2nd overall with a time of 25:48, just a second shy of her personal best. Next for the Panthers was
Kayleigh Simpson (Utica, NY) with a time of 32:25. After Simpson came
Krystal Ogoke with a PR of 34:50 and
Giselle Campbell (Liverpool, NY) at 37:36. Last for the Panthers was Katie Bishop who ran a 43:47, a new PR of over 6 minutes!
The women's team finished 4th overall when the race was complete. Soon thereafter, the men began their 8K race, led by
Harrison Matthews (Peru, NY) who finished with the 18th best time of 33:16. Following Matthews was
Kevin Andrews (Buffalo, NY) who ran a PR of 34:02, crossing the finish line right before
Tyler Buffolino (Ridge, NY) who ran a 34:03. After Buffolino was reigning YSCC athlete of the week
Andy Tran (Vietnam) who ran a PR of 35:25. Rounding off the Panthers was
Dylan Wang (Glenmont, NY),
Matthew Shakow (Saratoga Springs, NY),
Daniel Le, and
David Martin (Babylon, NY) with times of 35:28, 38:00, 40:10, and 44:18.
The men's team finished 6th overall as the Panthers will head to Lemont Furnace, PA from Wednesday 11/6 to Saturday 11/9 for the USCAA National Championships.
