The Hills and the Heat Can't Stop the Panthers

Middlebury, VT - The women kicked off their third meet of the season, this time in Vermont against a tough crowd in very summer-like weather.  In a crowd filled with nationally ranked D3 runners, freshman Ophelia Breen (Peru, NY) finished the 6K with a time of 27:04, good enough for 26th place.  Next for the Panthers was Kayleigh Simpson (Utica, NY) at 35:24 followed by Krystal Ogoke (Bowie, MD) at 37:58 and Giselle Campbell (Syracuse, NY) at 41:21.

As for the men, sophomore Harrison Matthews (Peru, NY) was the first to finish the 8K with a time of 35:38, good for 48th.   The next two finishers in the race were teammates Tyler Buffolino (Ridge, NY) and Matthew Shakow (Saratoga, NY) with times of 35:44 and 36:38, respectively.  The trio of Panthers were soon followed by their teammates Andy Tran (Vietnam), Kevin Andrews (Buffalo, NY), Daniel Le (Guam), and David Martin (Babylon, NY) with times of 39:22, 40:16, 43:47, and 53:31, respectively.  The combined times for the men's team landed them a 5th place finish out of 6 teams competing.

Both the men's and women's teams will have next week off to rest and recover before they head to the Founding Tree Invitational at Hampshire College on September 28th for their next meet.
