Outdoor Campaign Begins for Panthers

Clinton, NY - The track & field team traveled to Hamilton College on a beautiful Friday afternoon to being their outdoor campaign.

Despite it being only the first outdoor meet, the Panthers came out hot breaking four school records and winning three events to open up the season! "This was a great opportunity for us to get off to a fast start and I'm pleased we were able to take it," said Coach Dikeman.  With the high jump early on, Amanda Salisbury (Johnsonville, NY) not only won the event, but broke a 9-year old school record of 1.54m with a leap of 1.62m!

Nithya Gutta (Guilderland, NY) took after Salisbury and broke not one, but two records.  In the 100m dash, she ran a 13.42m while long jumping the farthest distance of the meet at 4.95m!

On the men's side, Timothy Hudson (Hanford, CA) kicked off his senior campaign with a win in men's discus with a throw of 39.73m. Freshman Nick Burgess picked up where he left off in indoor, smashing the 400m record with a time of 49.39, winning the event.

"We had a lot of really good debuts. Some folks getting into new events, some beginning to establish themselves as college athletes. Overall a great start to the season," Coach Dikeman was quoted saying after the meet.

The Panthers have a quick turnaround and will travel up 787 to Troy next week for the RPI Under the Lights Invite on April 10th and 11th.
