Trio of Teams Head to Pottersville

Box Score 1 | Box Score 3

Pottersville, NY - Both soccer teams and women's volleyball headed up to Pottersville once more on Wednesday night for some conference matchups.

Women's soccer kicked off first in a game that had a slow start, but picked up rapidly in the final minute of the first half with a goal from Ka'ena Kehano (Wailuku, HI).  Twenty-five seconds later, Kehano set up teammate Mya Wright (Liverpool, NY) in her season debut for her first goal of the season.  Barely five minutes into the second half, freshman Brooke Coon (Stillwater, NY) scored her fifth goal of the season off a Wright assist to give the Panthers a commanding 3-0 lead. The Huskies scored with about fifteen minutes to go to cut the lead down to two, but it was Coon who put the icing on the cake by scoring her second goal of the night with just minutes to go. The Panthers won by a 4-1 score.

While the women's soccer game was going on, women's volleyball tipped off for the third time this season against the Huskies. Despite some good plays from the Panthers, they were unable to top the Huskies and wound up losing the game in a sweep.

After the completion of the women's soccer game, the men kicked off.  The star of this game was senior Ian Rathbun (Queensbury, NY) as his monster season continued.  Twenty minutes into the game, he scored his 13th goal of the season to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.  About fourteen minutes later, he took advantage of a penalty kick to once again find the back of the net.  Rathbun's two goals were the only goals of the game as the Panthers won 2-0.

The soccer teams will have a few days until their next games on Saturday 10/10 when Southern Maine Community College comes to town. Women's volleyball will have a bit more time to prepare as they don't play until Tuesday 10/15 when Herkimer County Community College will come take on the Panthers on their senior night.
