Northampton, MA - After an inter-squad tune up two weeks ago, the Panthers were ready to cut their teeth against some college competition. Smith College and the Ellen O'Neil Invite proved to be just the challenge the Panthers were looking for.
The women kicked things off with a 6k across the rolling hills of Northampton. Lucia Sushynski (Saratoga Springs, NY) paced the women finishing 7th overall and was the first non-Smith College finisher. Koralyz Cruz Negron was 2nd for the Panthers and 34th overall. Next came a big pack of Panthers with Lily Gable (Beaverton, OR), Krystal Ogoke (Bowie, MD), Giselle Campbell (Liverpool, NY), Emily Bolster, and Katie Bishop (Plattsburgh, NY) all finishing back to back, to complete the scoring team. The ladies finished 4th overall.
In the men's race, freshman Dylan Mompoint (Queens, NY) led the Panthers, running 30:35 to finish 25th. Kevin Andrews (Buffalo, NY) and Dylan Wang (Glenmont, NY) came in next in 36:47 and 37:03 respectively. Matthew Shakow (Saratoga Springs, NY) and Dylan Mattison (Latham, NY), in his XC debut, rounded out the scoring for the Panthers who finished 5th amongst scoring teams.
It's a week off before the Panthers preview the YSCC Conference Championship course at Word of Life on October 3rd.
