In the opening game of the 2010 season, the ACPHS men's soccer team defeated SUNY Delhi by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday night in a game held at Union College.
Stephen Chikwem opened the scoring in the first half as the beat the Broncos' keeper off a beautiful through pass from
Zach Hecox (New Hartford, NY, New Hartford). With 11 minutes remaining in the first half,
Kyle Caradori (Waterford, NY, Waterford) blasted a shot from almost 30 yards out into the upper right corner of the goal as the Panthers took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half,
Alex Scoglio (Rochester, NY, Irondequoit) finished the scoring as he took the ball on a breakaway and slipped it past the goalie to complete the scoring and give ACPHS the win.
"For an opening game, we could not have played much better," said Head Coach
Rich Komulainen. "We have some things to improve on, but SUNY Delhi is a quality team and to come away with a 3-0 win is tremendous."
