PANTHERS REMAIN UNBEATEN WITH 51-37 WIN OVER JWU

BOX SCORE

ALBANY, N.Y. –
Senior forward Kelsey Johnson (Malone, N.Y.) scored 17 points and pulled down five rebounds to lead the host Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences women's basketball team (5-0) to a 51-37 victory over visiting Johnson & Wales (1-2) Tuesday evening at Albert M. White Gymnasium. The Panthers have now won eight consecutive games overall and seven in a row at home dating back to January 2013.

Johnson scored 11 of her 15 points in the first 7:15 to get the Panthers out to an early 13-point lead they would never relinquish. ACPHS never trailed in the contest as the Wildcats never came closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Sophomore forward Rochelle Whitton (Hermon, N.Y.) tallied 10 points and seven rebounds for the Panthers with junior forward Alexa Schooley (Auburn, N.Y.) adding nine points and eight boards. Junior guard Megan Serley (Oriskany, N.Y.) and junior guard Taylor Sullivan (Troy, N.Y.) collected seven rebounds apiece.

Valerie Arce paced Johnson & Wales with 11 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks. Wildcats center and local product Samantha Hendrick, a Maple Hill High School graduate, grabbed nine rebounds for the NCAA Division III school.

ACPHS, the reigning USCAA Division II national champion, is back in action Saturday at 2:00 pm when it travels to St. Louis College of Pharmacy; its next home game will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 7 against SUNY Canton.

NOTES: The Panthers have held their opponents to 60 points or less in 19 consecutive contests…JWU guard Jenna Juron, a Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School alumna, finished with six points and eight rebounds and went over the 1,000 career point mark in defeat...the two teams combined to shoot just 1-15 from beyond the arc.
