Albany, N.Y. – The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences men's basketball team (4-8, 2-1 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) was overwhelmed Sunday afternoon by visiting league rival Berkeley College (8-7, 4-1 HVIAC) in a 96-53 defeat at Albert M. White Gymnasium. Senior forward Casey Redfern led the Panthers with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
The Knights controlled the game from the opening tip, scoring the game's first six points and opening on a 15-5 run that ACPHS was never able to match. Ahead by nine with 9:42 to play in the first half, Berkeley went on a 21-6 streak that put the contest out of reach before halftime. Berkeley led 50-23 at the break.
The second half featured more of the same with the Knights extending their lead to as many as 46 points and coasting to a 43-point final margin of victory.
John Caswell scored seven points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Panthers while Arden Koroglu hit three three-pointers in the final minutes and finished with nine points.
Richard Rampersad paced Berkeley with 22 points on 4-6 three-point shooting. Keenan Langston (17 points), Shawn Collins (13 points, six rebounds) and Jovan Bovell (13 points, five rebounds) also scored in double figures for the Knights.
ACPHS will host Word of Life Bible Institute at 7:00 pm Tuesday, January 21 at Albert M. White Gymnasium.
