Panthers earn victory over Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill

Men's Soccer Team End Losing Streak!

Box Score Cobleskill, NY - The ACPHS Men's Soccer team was able to end their four game losing streak in a hard fought game at SUNY Cobleskill on Thursday, October 9.

Both teams played their hearts out and with stingy defensive lines and limited opportunities to score on both sides of the field.  Mid-way through the second half, Connor Laughlin made what proved to be the game winning save, when a ball got past ACPHS netminder and Connor happened to be in the right spot backing up his teammate and cleared the ball from the goal line.

After 90 minutes of play, the score was knotted at 0-0. The Panthers, who in the past week suffered three tough loses, came out in overtime determined to come away with a "W". ACPHS took over the momentum and play in the first overtime, but were unable to end the game. Finally, four minutes into the second overtime, Alex Perry-Ferrari blocked a SUNY Cobleskill clear from their penalty area, the ball went to Minah Ishak, who cut the ball to his left and shot the golden goal into the Fighting Tigers net. When asked of about his teams performance, Head Men's Soccer Coach Rich Komulainen said, "Our team needed this victory, the guys worked together and hung in there and came away with the win."

ACPHS improves their record to 4-6-1 and will next face the Culinary Institute of America at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18th.
