Albany, NY – The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Men's Soccer Team hosted the Steels of the Culinary Institute of America (Hyde Park, NY Campus) at the ACPHS Track & Field on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. This game marked the final home regular season games for seniors,
Matt Simpson,
Nathan LaFave,
Chris Mathews and
Nick Wlock.
The opening half brought exciting play from both teams who are fighting for post season position in the HVIAC. In the rain, ACPHS was able to break through the stellar defense of the Steels at 6:18 remaining when
Kyle Jenkins shot was blocked by CIA goal keeper, Jonathan Bedell, and the Panthers
Zak Giorgi scored off the rebound. The Steels battled back and was able to penetrate the Panther defense at 2:57remaning when Stefano Schiaffino snuck one past
Matt Houlihan. The first half ended knotted at 1-1 and the rain pouring down.
At the start of the second half the rain stopped and ACPHS kept the pressure on the Steels of the CIA. At 9:52 remaining,
Jack Hanlon connected off a blocked shot and scored giving the Panthers a 2-1 lead. At 4:46 remaining,
Mina Ishak put the game away when he snuck one past the CIA defense.
