Panthers Battle Falcons At Home

ACPHS Falls to Davis College, 59-55

Albany, NY – The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Men's basketball team hosted Davis College at the Albert M. White Gymnasium on the ACPHS campus on Thursday, January 29.

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead over the Falcons, only to see the Falcons claw back and grab the halftime lead, 28-27. Leading scorers in the opening half were Joe Daniels for Davis College and Michael Bayer for the Panthers.

The second half was a battle, as both teams played their hearts out. The Panthers were down 1 with 17.5 and had the ball on the offensive but a costly team turnover gave the ball back to Davis College with 16.6 seconds left on the clock. At 8.8 seconds remaining, the Falcons Justin Gardiner knocked down two free throws to give Davis the 57-54 advantage. With 2.3 seconds remaining, Ryan McVaigh was fouled and went to the line. He knocked down the first and missed the second, Davis rebounded the ball and sealed the victory over the Panthers, 59-55. Leading scorers for the Falcons included Justin Gardiner (12 points and 8 rebounds) and Mark Riches (11 points). ACPHS got strong performances from Alex Johnson (12 points and 5 rebounds) and Brandon Votra (14 points and 4 rebounds).
