Albany, NY – The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences women's basketball team faced off against the Sage College Gators in the annual Pink Out Classic! All in attendance had the opportunity to support the American Cancer Society and ACPHS Relay for Life.
The opening half featured great play from both the Panthers and the Gators. At the end of the half the ACPHS held a 24 – 23 lead over SAGE. Leading scorers included Megan Serley with 9 points for ACPHS and Jen Schoff with 6 points for SAGE. Both teams battled hard and leads were exchanged throughout the first half, with the Panthers grabbing the lead as time expired.
The second half saw more great action early and then SAGE began to take charge behind the play of Megan Bowman. The Gators took back the lead and went on a 16-0 run taking a 52-40 lead with 8:00 minutes remaining in the half. The Panthers were never able to get back in the game and in the end fell to the Gators, 72-54. With the win, SAGE improves their record to 11-5. Top performers for the Gators were Megan Bowman with 19 points and 10 assists and Amie Jefferson with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
With the loss the Panthers record stands at 11-5 on the season and they next face a key USCAA matchup against St. Joseph's College of Vermont who stands ahead of ACPHS in the overall national standings in the USCAA. Top scorers for the Panthers were Megan Serley with 13 points, Taylor Sullivan with 9 points and 10 rebounds and Alexa Schooley 10 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds.
