Albany, NY - ACPHS out rebounded under-manned The King's College 60-32 which propelled them to an 89-76 HVIAC victory yesterday at Albert M. White Gymnasium. With the win, The Panthers move to 7-8 overall and 5-1 in the league. The Lions dropped to 6-5, 1-3 in the HVIAC.

The Panthers came out firing in this one, taking a 23-9 advantage just nine minutes into the game after a layup by senior Michael Beyer (Clifton Park, NY). The Lions would not go quietly though, cutting the deficit to three with seven minutes left in the first. ACPHS turned it on again late in the half, closing out on a 12-0 run to take a 42-27 advantage into the break. Three Panthers were already in double figures at this point: Beyer and sophomores Alex Johnson (Malone, NY) and Brandon Votra (Saint Regis Falls, NY).

The Panthers were able to coast in the second, never letting the lead slip to less than 13. Both the Panthers and Lions shot well for the game, going 37-82 (45.1%) and 28-68 (41.2%) respectively, but The King's College played the whole game with just five players and weren't able to keep up with the Panthers in the second. This was despite two huge games from Trivette Knowles and James Brooks. Knowles finished with a triple-double, capping off his 16 point, 12 assist, and 17 rebound effort with a ferocious putback dunk in the closing minutes of the game. Brook had a game-high 32, going 14 of 25. The Panthers produced some big lines in the game as well, the biggest being Votra's, who had 29 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Johnson finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds, Beyer with 17 and eight, freshman Thomas Chalker (Metuchen, NJ) with 13, and senior David Mcentee (Cazenovia, NY) with six, nine boards, and seven assists.

The Panthers are back at it today, January 31 when they take on Berkeley at home at 3pm. The King's College looks to bounce back at New England Baptist on February 4th at 8:00pm.
