The ACPHS Women's Basketball Team ended their Thanksgiving break on Wednesday, falling to the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers 73-33. The Panthers are now 1-5 overall, while Cobleskill improved to 4-2.
This one was never particularly close, as the Fighting Tigers made ten of their 21 field goal attempts in the first quarter to race out to a 22-6 lead. Junior forward
Olivia Parmeter (Waddington, NY / Madrid Waddington Central) was the only Panther to score in the quarter, on her way to finishing second on the team with 11 points in the game. ACPHS did keep the second quarter close, but were outscored 24-9 in the third which put the game out of reach.
Freshman guard
Clare Snell (Potsdam, NY / Parishville Hopkinton) led all scorers with 17 points, eight of which came in the fourth quarter. Snell also recorded a career-high six steals. For Cobleskill, sophomore Addy Lawson led the way with 14 points, adding four assists, eight rebounds, and five steals for a solid all-around game. The Panthers only committed one more turnover than the Tigers, but were out-rebounded 63-31 and outscored 44-20 in the paint.
Ultimately, it was a tough night for Albany, but they will have to turn it around quickly, as they host Central Maine Community College on Friday at 2pm.
