Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Tim Maisonet | Sports Information Director

Men's Soccer Drops Home Opener 4-0

ACPHS Men's Soccer never got off the ground on Sunday, losing their home opener to the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats 4-0. This was the Panthers' 2nd loss in as many games, dropping their overall record to 1-2.

Albany conceded possession to Bryant & Stratton for most of the contest, and were able to withstand the Bobcats until the 14th minute, when a pass from freshman midfielder Yago Pimenta put junior forward Romaine Williamson in behind the ACPHS defense. Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Hobson (Red Hook, NY / Red Hook High School) came racing out of goal as the last line of defense, but collided with Williamson in the process, giving the Bobcats a penalty kick. Senior captain Uros Momic tucked away the spot kick, which turned out to be the only goal Bryant & Stratton would need.

Williamson would not be denied in the 22nd minute, when he again found himself in behind the Albany defense and calmly rounded Hobson to put the Bobcats up by two. Williamson netted twice more in the game, with his next goal coming less than a minute later. Senior Zino Zampach finished with two assists, both coming on goals by Williamson. Albany's Hobson made four saves on eight shots on target, while the Albany offense could only muster one shot attempt.

ACP begins the defense of their 2017 HVIAC Championship on Friday, September 21st, when they host on the SUNY-ESF Mighty Oaks at 7pm.
