Women's Basketball Moves to 2-0 in the HVIAC

ACPHS Women's Basketball pushed their win streak to two yesterday, November 17th, besting Lions of The King's College 77-42. The home win moved the Panthers overall record to 3-2 and upped their record in the HVIAC to 2-0.

Fresh off of winning USCAA Player of the Week for her outstanding performances in the three previous games, senior guard Emma Webster (Cadyville, NY / Saranac High) picked up right where she left off on Sunday, hitting three three-pointers to put the Panthers up 9-3 in the opening five minutes. The Lions would cut that lead to two shortly thereafter, but Albany closed the quarter on an 8-2 run thanks to some hot shooting from sophomore guard Clare Snell (Potsdam, NY / Parishville Hopkinton).

In the second quarter, ACPHS stayed hot from the floor. The Panthers made seven of their 11 attempts (64%) and parlayed that into a 35-18 halftime lead. Of note was some much needed production off the bench for Albany from sophomore Erica Scholl (Frankfort, NY / Frankfort). The guard scored six points and grabbed six boards in 12 minutes of action, providing a spark in the closing minutes of the half.

Webster and Snell were the catalysts for Albany in the second half, trading impact plays that the Lions just could not answer. The duo would end up with 26 and 23 points respectively, which was more than King's had all together. Snell filled up the stat sheet, adding ten rebounds, six assists and two steals to her high point total. Three Panthers tied for the team-lead with ten boards, while the team out-rebounded King's 56-38. All-in-all, it was a comprehensive victory for ACPHS, who now sit in first place in the HVIAC.

Next up for ACPHS is a trip to Bunker Hill Community College this Tuesday at 7pm.
