ACPHS senior guard
Emma Webster became the latest member of the 1,000-point club on Tuesday night, when she scored 19 points in a 76-41 loss to the Bryant & Stratton College (Rochester) Bobcats. The loss moved the Panthers overall record to 4-5, while Bryant improved to 5-2.
Webster, just 14 points shy of 1,000 coming into the contest, completed the feat with a pair of free throws in the fourth quarter. From Cadyville, NY, the sharpshooter has started all 69 games she's appeared in for the Panthers, shooting 35% from three while playing 38 minutes per game. She will continue to be the Panthers main offensive threat as they compete for an HVIAC title this season.
As for the contest, the Bobcats pressed Albany from the start, forcing Webster and her teammates into some early turnovers that allowed Bryant & Stratton to score the game's first nine points. Senior forward
Olivia Parmeter got the Panthers back into the game after her and-one cut the Bobcat lead to four with 2:41 left in the first, but the visitors buckled down thereafter. They closed out the half on a 29-15 run, out-rebounding the Panthers 28-9 in the process.
The second half was more of the same, as Bryant ripped off a 15-0 run coming out of the break that effectively put the game out of reach heading into the fourth. On the other end, Webster slowly racked up her 19 points with four made threes, three of which came in the second half.
For Bryant & Stratton, Dorian Shard led the way with 22 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, and eight steals. Not far behind was Shanell Glover, who chipped in 16 points off the bench. Kadijah Jones was a dominant force under the basket, grabbing 11 rebounds and recording four blocks.
For ACPHS, Webster's backcourt mate
Clare Snell was second on the team with 13 points and six rebounds. Parmeter finished with seven points on 2-2 shooting.
The senior star will look to add to her collegiate total after the Thanksgiving Break, when Albany hosts Central Maine Community College on Saturday, December 7
th at 1:00 PM.
