Albany, N.Y - The ACPHS Women's Basketball team improved to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference Tuesday night after a dominating team win vs. Vermont Technical College.
The opposition struggled to get anything going early on and the Panthers capitalized. Although, already missing last weeks YSCC Player of the Week Dida Sluserek (Sarasota, FL / Riverview), Sophomore Madi Phillips (Schagtichoke, NY / Hudson Falls) went down with an apparent knee injury very early on that forced ACPHS to go into their already thin bench.
It wasn't an issue. The Panthers 52-25 victory was an absolute team performance that saw 7 of the participating 8 Panthers get on the scoreboard. Senior guard
Erica Scholl (Frankort, NY / Frankfort-Schuyler) led the way with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Junior point guard
Clare Snell (Potsdam, NY / Parishville-Hopkinton followed suit collecting 11 points to go along with 12 rebounds. The Panthers starting backcourt collecting 23 rebounds were just one-shy of matching Vermont Techs team total for the game.
On offense, the Panthers looked calm and composed. Moving the ball nicely to find the open look. Ultimately, their patient offense resulted in 30 points in the Paint. On the other end, ACPHS was able to turn Vermont Tech over 26 times, giving them 28 points off turnovers.
It was a huge win for the Panthers heading into the Thanksgiving recess. Without two of their starters, they will be looking forward to seeing Sluserek back on the floor next Saturday, December 4th with a home date against Kings College. In the meantime, Coach
Lauren Stock, Scholl, Snell, and the rest of the crew will anxiously await Phillips' diagnosis.
