Albany, NY - It was a tough day at the office for ACPHS Women's Basketball on Thursday night when Paul Smith's came to town. A slow shooting start for both teams kept the Panthers in reach at the end of the first, but abysmal second quarter which Paul Smith's won 21-6 gave the Bobcats all the cushion they would need to see out the 66-41win.
ACPHS effort was never in doubt, with just six players in uniform due to injury and health and safety protocol, the women worked hard at clawing their way back, though the ball just never found the bottom of the net consistently.
Uncharacteristically, the Panthers went all 40 minutes without hitting a single three, shooting just 27% from the field in total. Paul Smith's hit seven threes, about equaling the margin of victory. The Bobcats shot 38% from the field and were able to convert on ACPHS' mistakes, scoring 18 off of 14 Panther turnovers.
Dida Slusarek (Sarasota, FL/Riverview) led the Panthers with 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Erica Scholl (Frankfort, NY/Frankfort-Schuyler) and
Clare Snell (Potsdam, NY/Parishville-Hopkinton) each added 10 points.
Jordan Louis led the visitors with 25 points, while Jayla Gray was a force to be reckoned with inside adding 20 and 15.
It was the opposite of Sunday's loss in which the Panthers were able to put up 40 first half points. Regardless, they'll forget this one and set their sights on Saturday when they host Central Maine Community College at 2:00pm.
