Box Score Paul Smiths, N.Y. - Friday evening, the ACPHS women's basketball team (0-1) lost their regular season debut 54-46 against YSCC rival Paul Smith's College.
After numerous game cancelations, the Panthers came into this matchup looking to prove all the training they have done since August has paid off.
First-half breakdown
ACPHS, could not find their footing on offense early on – seemingly missing short or long on every shot behind the arc.
On the bright side, the Panthers made it a competitive game for most of the half. Until the Bobcats began capitalizing on ACPHS' misses and converting them into easy transition baskets. Paul Smith's closed out the first half 32-20.
Second-half recap
Coming out of the locker room, things got worse for the traveling team. Although ACPHS never gave up, they could not compete because their shots simply were not falling.
The Bobcats held a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half and started stretching the lead after heating up from behind the arc.
For ACPHS, they cannot attach too much emotion to this bout – it was their first of many games. Going forward, they will have to remember what mistakes were made today and how they can avoid this lackluster play moving forward.
What was said after the game?
After the loss, Head Coach Lauren Stock said "First game of the season for our women, I thought we were a little nervous and excited in the beginning but then started to settle into the game second quarter. We were able to get out in transition and execute some of our half court sets. We are looking forward to building off this game and continuing to build our team chemistry."
When do they play next?
The Panthers return to action Sunday, Nov. 20, when they host Southern Maine Community College for their second straight YSCC matchup.
