Men's Soccer Ties in Hard-Fought Battle at Home

Albany, N.Y. – The ACPHS Men's Soccer team dropped to 2-2-1 after tying at home against Central Maine Community College 1-1 Sunday afternoon.

Senior Charles Middleton (Syracuse, N.Y.) was able to find Midfielder Gavin Carvey (Cato, N.Y.) for the first score of the game ten minutes in. ACPHS kept the Mustangs scoreless in the first – denying all ten of their shots on goal.

In the remaining 45 minutes of play, things seemed to take a turn for the worse – Romano Bassa was able to score for the Mustangs 17 minutes into the half. ACPHS's offensive struggles continued, as they could not put up any more points for the rest of the game. Despite the lackluster offense, Sophomore Goalie Ryan Herrick (Massena, N.Y.) made sure Central Maine didn't steal the victory – securing two saves with under two minutes to go.

After the game, Herrick spoke about his mindset when the offense isn't flowing: "My mindset really doesn't change; I have confidence in my team. Even though we're not putting up points, we are still creating chances. I can't give up on them because they're not going to give up on me."

"I think everyone is happy. It's a conference game, so you always want a win; if you can't get a win, you at least want a tie. We'll take the one point we have about a week before the next conference game, so we'll be ready for that. Today we really worked hard, and it's good not to go down with a loss. We will grow and get better from here," said Coach John Adeseko.

The Panthers will aim to get back in the winning column when they travel to Southern Maine Community College Saturday, September 24th.
