Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Bounces Back in Dominant Fashion

Albany, N.Y. – In their second straight home game, the ACPHS Women's Soccer team improved to 1-1 after taking down Fulton Montgomery Community College 7-0 Thursday evening.

ACPHS came out strong to start and never looked back. Forward Isabella Mancini (Galway, N.Y.) struck first five minutes into the game. Mancini would go on to score her second goal of the game just 28 minutes later. Three assists from Senior Shannon Donnelly (Bethlehem, N.Y.) and two goals from Forward Julia Roemer (Latham, N.Y.) would extend the lead to 4-0. The Panthers defensive prowess shined for the entire first half – holding the Raiders to zero shots.

In the remaining 45 minutes of play, Mancini and Roemer would complete their set of hat- tricks. Mancini's came just four minutes into the period – an exceptional score right over the goalkeeper's head. Roemer would score her third goal with just under 19 minutes left to play. ACPHS continued their strong defensive efforts for the rest of the game – holding Fulton Montgomery College to 4 total shots in the second period.

"It is all about consistency again. We went back to the drawing board as far as practice and training goes. The girls have been working really hard all week. We worked some technical stuff, some tactical stuff, and just kind of reset something's, but we were able to stay consistent the whole way through," Coach Jonathan Woodrow after the game.

After the win – Isabella Mancini was asked what the biggest motivator in her aggression tonight was, "To be honest, the sun is not out – it's nice and cool for once. Once I scored the first goal, it just kept going. The team hyped me up, and we all felt that boost and just kept the flow going."

The Panthers will look to keep the momentum rolling when they host Vermont Technical College Sunday, September 11th.
