Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's basketball finishes regular season

Albany, NY - The women played their final game of the year, and it also marked Senior Erica Scholl's final home game for the Panthers.

The Panther started out the game hot, playing some strong defense once again. The first half saw the Panthers rack up 7 steals and 2 blocks to help power them on the defensive end. Dida Slusarek (Sarasota, FL) continued her hot streak of games getting 6 points and 3 rebounds to lead the Panthers to a 12-11 lead after one. The second quarter the Panthers stepped it up and were scoring in bunches trying to take control of this game. Slusarek scored 10 more points and 7 more rebounds o add to her 6 points, 3 rebounds in the first quarter, and Anna Jensen (Valley Falls, NY) and Erica Scholl (Frankfort, NY) both had 4 points to help the Panthers take a 30-23 lead at the half. the Panthers held the Lynx to just 19.5% shooting in the first half.

The second half was sadly a very different story for the Panthers, and the Lynx came out firing. Although the shooting percentage wasn't there for the Lynx, their offensive rebound totals for kick out threes were just the story of the second half. The Lynx were finding their range behind the three point line and just caught fire, tying the game at 43 going into the final period. The fourth quarter was just more of the same, where the Lynx hit their shots, and the Panthers did not. The fourth quarter saw the Lynx take full control and it was just too much to overcome.

Although the Panthers lost this game, it does not discount the overall effort the team put into this game. A pair of double-doubles from Dida Slusarek (18 points & 19 rebounds) and Anna Jensen (11 points & 12 rebounds). Scholl finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds, while the 6-point performance from Izzy Mancini (Galway, NY) had in her season debut. Ejoraa Ninche (Selden, NY) had a great game rebounding the ball with 7 rebounds and 4 points herself. Finally, Emma Russell (Brushton, NY) found her lucky number of the game getting 4 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds.

The Panthers season is now over while they get ready to put in some offseason work preparing for next season.
