Panthers Fall Short in Maine

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Auburn, ME - Just a day after the soccer teams traveled to Maine for a doubleheader, the volleyball team took a trip themselves, but this time to Auburn, ME.

The Panthers took part in a Tri-Match where they played both Southern Maine Community College and Central Maine Community College.  In the first game, they took on the SMCC Seawolves which was played on the CMCC court.  It was a tough game for the Panthers as the Seawolves came into the day with an undefeated record of 7-0.  The Seawolves took a 2-0 lead, but the Panthers weren't going to go down without a fight. Despite a small injury to team captain Kathryn Braun (Guilderland, NY), they won the third set to avoid a sweep, but still ultimately fell short to the Seawolves.

After the conclusion of the first match, the Panthers then took on CMCC who are also a very tough opponent, coming into the day with a 4-1 record.  Exhausted from the previous match, the Panthers struggled to put up points against the Mustangs who ended up winning the match by a score of 3-0.

It was a tough weekend for the Panthers, but they'll have a full week of rest to prepare themselves for a rematch against both teams next Sunday when they host a pod match.  They'll take on CMCC at 9am, then SMCC at 11am, before finally playing NHTI at 5pm on the 29th.
