Albany, NY - The men's basketball team hosted the JV SUNY Canton Roos on Wednesday night in their second to last home game of the regular season.
It was a rematch of a game from November where the Panthers won, but this time around the Roos were very short handed as they only had 6 players. The Panthers used that to their advantage and started HOT by jumping to an early 34-4 lead, led by freshman David Hudson III (Cincinnati, OH) who had a career day finishing the game with 21 points, drilling 5 three-pointers. Michael Leak (Delanson, NY) finished the first half with 11 points, 5 boards, and 3 steals. At the break, the Panthers held a 53-26 lead.
In the second half was more of the same as they pushed their lead all the way to 44 points at its largest. Tristan Lisbony (Houston, TX) led the way this time as he dropped 13 points in the half while freshman K'den Spears (Dover, DE) had 9 points off the bench, shooting 4/5 from the field. The heavy offensive showing was far too much for the Roos to handle as ACPHS won the game 93-52.
Lisbony and Hudson finished as the game's leading scorers, each with 21 points while Leak had 12 points and 7 assists. Lisbony and Clarence Claiborne Jr. (Petersburg, VA) both had 6 assists while Brett Richards (Kinderhook, NY) scored 14 points of his own.
The Panthers next game will be this Saturday when both basketball teams head to Paul Smith's College to take on the Bobcats in a doubleheader that will have YSCC playoff implications.
