Albany, NY - The men's volleyball team hosted their first ever home game Thursday night against the Word of Life Huskies! It was an extraordinary match with incredible energy from the crowd in a game that went down to the wire.
After a delayed start due to technical difficulties, the Panthers came out roaring and won the first set 25 - 21. In the second, the Panthers hurt themselves with silly mistakes as they lost 25 - 20. But after making some adjustments, they won the third set by a nail biting margin of 2 points: 25 - 23.
Currently down 2-1, the Huskies played hard in the fourth to send the game to a 5th and final set, winning 25 - 21. In the final set, the Huskies rode their momentum to gain an early lead of about 7 points, but the Panthers would not go down without a fight. They cut the Huskies lead all the way down to a single point, but the Huskies ultimately won the match by a score of 15 - 13.
Both teams played really tough as each set was decided by 5 points or less. The crowd was arguably the loudest crowd of any Panther event this year as the inaugural men's volleyball season comes to an end.
