Albany, NY - Both soccer teams took on the Central Maine Mustangs on Saturday in their first home doubleheader of the season!

The men kicked off at 11am in a very physical game that ended up having 6 total yellow cards.  Despite the physicality, the Mustangs jumped to an early 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the game.  The Mustangs then rode their early momentum to take 14 more shots before halftime, with three more finding the back of the net for a 4-0 halftime lead. 

In the second half, the Panthers tightened up their defense and held the Mustangs to zero goals.  However, the Mustangs reciprocated the tight defense as the Panthers only got off 3 shots in the second half with none scoring. 

4-0 would end up being the final score for the men's game.  Shortly after that, the women's team kicked off against the Mustangs at 1pm.  

The women's game was a lot more back and forth compared to the men's game, but also with tight defense.  Neither team had much success in getting shots off as the Mustangs led in that category 5-3 at half.  Neither team scored, giving us a scoreless first half. 

In the second half, the Panthers were able to flip the script as they outshot the Mustangs 8-3, led by Ka'ena Kehano (Wailuku, HI), who finished the game with 8 shots.  However, just like the first half, neither team could find the back of the net and the game finished in a 0-0 tie. 

Both teams will have a couple days to make adjustments as they both host the Word of Life Huskies this upcoming Tuesday evening.
