Box Score 2 Albany, NY - The basketball teams hosted the Southern Maine Seawolves on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader at home.
The women tipped off first at 2pm and right from the tip, it was all Seawolves. The Panthers offense struggles continued as the team turned the ball over 13 times in the first quarter alone. Southern Maine capitalized by building a 37-point lead at its highest, which the Panthers cut down to 21 by the time the final buzzer sounded. The 77-56 loss brings the team to an 8-5 record, including a 3-5 conference record.
After the women's game, the men played in a more defensive battle. Down 24-16 at halftime, both teams struggled offensively in the first half, but the Seawolves then found their groove after the break while the Panthers simply could not. They scored a season low 36 points while Southern Maine finished with 63 to hand the Panthers their second consecutive loss.
Both teams will regroup and make changes to their gameplan in the coming days as the men head to SUNY Ulster on Tuesday while the women won't play until next Saturday when they host UMaine Augusta.
