Albany, NY - PANTHERS WIN!!!
The women's basketball team defeated Word of Life on Wednesday night in the YSCC Play-In game to advance to the conference Final Four!
The game tipped off at 5pm, with a pretty fast, but even start. The Panthers had a 17-14 lead thanks to 5 points from both Samantha Howland (Whitehall, NY) and Adora Cho (Great Neck, NY). In the second, the Panthers hot offense continued, putting up 15 against the Huskies' 6, once again led by Cho. The Panthers led 32-20 going into halftime.
In the third, the Huskies got a little momentum going by scoring 15 points, but it still wasn't enough to outscore the Panthers who dropped 19 in the period. The fourth was more of the same with the Panthers ultimately winning 65-45.
Howland finished with a monstrous 23 points and 16 rebounds to go along with 6 steals while Ava Gaspie (Mechanicville, NY) had a double-double of her own with 10 points and 12 boards. Cho would finish with 20 points and 5 assists while Akosua Adu-Gyamfi (Holden, MA) led the team in assists with 6.
The team advances to the YSCC Final Four where they will take on the top seeded and host school Central Maine Mustangs at 2pm on Saturday for a chance to advance to the YSCC Championship!
