Box Score 1 Concord, NH - Women's volleyball took a trip to NHTI this past weekend to participate in the annual YSCC Crossover weekend where they played a total of five games over three days.
Their first game came Friday evening when they took on the host school NHTI. Anxiety feared the team as they took on the 5-0 Lynx, stealing the first set giving NHTI the first set loss of the season. I would normally shoutout some players right about now, but literally everyone deserves a shoutout for this game. Even though they dropped the next two sets, they only lost by a combined 5 points. Then they came and played a great defensive game to win the fourth. They ultimately dropped the fifth to lose the game, but the Panthers held their own and gave the Lynx a run for their money.
Their next game came Saturday morning against the Great Bay Herons. Riding the momentum from yesterday, the Panthers took an early 2-0 lead. Sophomore Jenna Reinhard played especially well for the team, racking up aces left and right. The Herons answered by claiming the third set, then taking an early five point lead in the fourth. Then once again, Reinhard led her team to a comeback victory to win both the set, and the match.
In the late afternoon, the Panthers took on the York County Hawks. Fresh off the win from this morning, they continued their hot streak against the fresh program. It was another game filled with aces left and right, leading to a clean sweep of the Hawks to give the Panthers a 2-1 record for the weekend thus far.
On Sunday morning, they played the first game of the day against the Central Maine Mustangs. The first set was a battle, with the score tied after 12-12. Then the Mustangs caught fire to win the first set. They continued playing hot for the rest of the game, handing the Panthers their second loss of the weekend.
Sunday afternoon was pretty much the same thing against the Southern Maine Seawolves. The score was close early on, but the Seawolves ran away with it to sweep the Panthers, despite a competitive third set.
It was a long weekend for the Panthers, playing 5 games in 3 days. Despite only winning two of the games, the team still played very, very well with everybody making positive contributions. The team will rest and regroup for a couple days before they take on Word of Life for the first time on Wednesday evening.
