Despite holding a 21 to 10 advantage in shots, the ACPHS men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Paul Smith's College on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Panthers fall to 9-4 on the season, with an important conference game against Cooper Union looming on Sunday.
Things started out very well for the Panthers, as just over three minutes into the game,
Ryan Michonski (Southwick, MA, Southwick-Tolland) brought the ball through the Bobcats' defense, and found
Zach Hecox (New Hartford, NY, New Hartford) who then passed it to
Alex Scoglio (Rochester, NY, Irondequoit) who beat the Paul Smith's goalie. The goal was Scoglio's fourth on the season.
ACPHS took the slim 1-0 lead into halftime, but was unable to maintain the advantage as Brian Vernterlo scored twice and Bill Krueger added another to give Paul Smith's the victory.
Adam Hoye-Simek (Broadalbin, NY, Broadalbin-Perth) made three saves in net for the Panthers.
