Panthers Down Davis College, Improve to 8-1

The ACPHS women's soccer team exploded with six second-half goals as they cruised to a 9-0 home win over Davis College on Tuesday afternoon. Amanda White (Troy, NY, Hoosic Valley) had two goals while Alexa Schooley (Auburn, NY, Union Springs) added a goal and two assists as the Panthers improved to 8-1 on the season.

Gabriella Diecidue (Poughkeepsie, NY) scored at the 19 minute mark of the first half, off an assist from Schooley, to open the scoring for the day for ACPHS. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the half, White scored on a perfect shot to the upper left corner of the goal, passing the outstretched hands of the Falcons' goalie, Kayla Cline. Just four minute later, White added her second goal of the half on a cross from Amanda Stessing (Grand Island, NY, Holy Angels Academy) to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the first 15 minutes of the second half, ACPHS received goals from Micaela Mitchell (Ogdensburg, NY, Ogdensburg Free Academy), Courtney Atkins (Hammond, NY, Hammond) and Schooley to take a commanding 6-0 lead. The final three goals were scored by Erin Student (Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa), Christine Roman (Chittenango, NY), who played the first half as goalie before playing in the field in the second half, and Sam Nolan (Galway, NY, Galway).

Roman shutout the Falcons in goal, before giving way to Taylor Kelsey (Champlain, NY, Northeastern Clinton), who completed the shutout. ACPHS returns to action on Wednesday, October 13 as they host Green Mountain College.
