Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Has Senior Day

Albany, NY - The soccer teams hosted UME Augusta on Saturday for a doubleheader which included the women's soccer senior night! Both Coey Ni & Mya Wright were honored as the team's seniors this year, being presented with gifts during pre game warmups.

Shortly after, the game began in a tightly contested match. Ball control was pretty evenly split between the teams, but it was the Moose who were able to find the back of the net first to take a 1-0 lead at halftime.

About 12 minutes into the second half, the Moose were once again able to capitalize and extend their lead by another goal.  Now in comeback mode, the Panthers answered with Lizbeth Lopez (Staten Island, NY) that answered with a goal off a beautiful pass from Ka'ena Kehano (Wailuku, HI) to cut into the lead. The Panthers tried to ride their momentum, but were unable to score again.  2-1 ended up being the final score.

After the completion of the women's game, the men took on the school's conference opponent.  This time around, it was the Panthers who dominated ball control. Sophomore Michael Plusch (Hoosick, NY) scored his first goal of the season to give the team a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half was more dominant as Cherubin Mafoumba (Bronx, NY) scored his second goal of the season.  In the final ten minutes of the game, the Panthers scored three more times.  First off Jayden Martey (Bloomfield, CT) from a Mafoumba assist, then an Ian Rathbun (Queensbury, NY) goal, and finally a Padraig Gallagher (Poughkeepsie, NY) goal off an assist from Max Sheehan (Clifton Park, NY).

The Panthers won the game 5-0 to split the day with the Moose.  The team will be back in action tomorrow as they head up to Central Maine to take on the Mustangs in another conference doubleheader.
