The ACPHS women's basketball team cruised to their second straight victory to start the season as they defeated Bard College by a score of 74-33 on Tuesday night.
Katie McCormack (Proctor, VT, Proctor) led the Panthers with 18 points points and seven rebounds while
Alyson Johnson (Malone, NY, Franklin Academy) also reached double-figures with 13 points and added five blocked shots.
The Panthers jumped all over the Raptors from the opening tip and after
Taylor Sullivan (Troy, NY, Hoosic Valley), the reigning Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, connected on a jump shot nine minutes into the contest, ACPHS held a commanding 17-2 lead. Johnson connected on two three-point baskets in the first half and the stifling ACPHS defense limited Bard to just 10 points in the opening 20 minutes, taking a 35-10 lead into the break.
All 10 ACPHS players scored at least three points and all reached double-figures in minutes played.
Frances Ripepi (Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam), in her first start at point guard, scored nine points while
Kelsey Johnson (Malone, NY, Franklin Academy) scored eight points, dished out six assists and did not commit a turnover.
Alex Oaks (Oaks Corners, NY, Midlakes) also had a solid overall game with four points, seven rebounds and six steals as the Panthers forced Bard to commit 30 turnovers.
ACPHS returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Boston to participate in the Emerson College Invitiational, facing off against Connecticut College at 3:00 PM. The other teams in the tournament include Emerson and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
