BOX SCORE
The ACPHS women's basketball team dropped a 78-43 decision to Connecticut College in the opening round of the Emerson College Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Boston.
Kelsey Johnson (Malone, NY, Franklin Academy) led the Panthers with 14 points and six rebounds while
Alex Oaks (Oaks Corners, NY, Midlakes) scored 11 points to lead ACPHS.
The Panthers were undone by a first half in which they shot just 21% from the field and committed a number of turnovers that the Camels turned into points on the other end of the floor. Oaks connected on a jump shot to tie the game at four, but then Connecticut College went on a 12-0 run over the next four minutes to take an early lead that they would not relinquish.
"We just couldn't get anything going on the offensive end for the majority of the game," said Head Coach Dan McGraw. "With their strong pressure, Connecticut College took us out of our rhythmn and we forced a lot of shots and committed too many turnovers."
ACPHS will face Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon in the consolation game.
