Women's Basketball Clinches HVWAC Regular Season Title

In a rematch of the 2010 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference championship game, the ACPHS women's basketball gained some revenge with an 82-39 victory over St. Joseph's (NY) on Saturday afternoon in Albany.

After falling behind 5-4 to start the game, the Panthers outscored St. Joseph's 41-8 for the remainder of the first half to take a commanding lead at halftime. ACPHS did not let up in the second half as they were able to hold the Bears to under 22% shooting from the field for the game.

Kelsey Johnson (Malone, NY, Franklin Academy) scored a game-high 21 points for ACPHS while also pulling down 14 rebounds as the Panthers claimed a 58-40 advantage in rebounds. Alyson Johnson (Malone, NY, Franklin Academy) scored 20 points, including connecting on five three-point shots. Katie McCormack (Proctor, VT, Proctor)scored 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Amber Batzold (East Greenbush, NY, Columbia) also had 13 rebounds.

Cassie White (Hermon, ME, Hermon) (13 points) and Alex Oaks (Oaks Corners, NY, Midlakes) (11 points) also reached double-figures as the Panthers won their seventh game in a row. ACPHS connected on eight of 15 three-point shots for the game.

The Panthers return to action on Monday night as they travel to Middlebury College in a game that was rescheduled from last week.
