The ACPHS Panthers fell to the Alfred University Saxons, 1-0 on Sunday in the championship game of the AU invitational tournament.
Both teams battled throughout the first half, tallying five shots each. The second half was more of the same as both teams struggled to break through and score, sending the game into overtime.
With minutes remaining in the first overtime, ACPHS Junior,
Alexa Schooley fought her way through the Saxons defense and placed a shot to the far post only to have Saxon's keeper, Samijo Scheer lay out and grab the ball mid air to make the save.
Both teams fought for possession but in the final four minutes of the second overtime period, Saxons midfielder Rachael Williams was able to net the golden goal and win the match for the Saxons.
Junior goalie Samijo Scheer got her first start of the season for the Saxons playing the full 90 minutes and making seven saves. Alexandra Weston also played the entire game for ACPHS, earning seven saves as well.
