BOX SCORE
The ACPHS women's basketball team was left for dead, down 14 points with just over 11 minutes to play. As has been the story all year, the Panthers fought back and took the lead with three minutes to play, but couldn't hang on as Hamilton College came away with the 57-52 victory on Tuesday night.
The Panthers struggled to find their rhythm on offense for the majority of the opening half, but four late points by
Taylor Sullivan pulled ACPHS to within four points, at 28-24, at halftime. Early in the second half, the Continentals used their pressure defense to force ACPHS into bad shots and they were able to extend the lead to 46-32.
Led by
Alyson Johnson (16 points),
Taylor Sullivan (14 points and seven rebounds), and
Megan Serley (14 points), the Panthers mounted a furious comeback, going on a 21-5 run to take a lead late in the second half. However, it wasn't enough as Hamilton hit a number of key shots down the stretch and came away with the victory.
ACPHS falls to 11-3 on the season as they head into a key stretch of conference games, first against New Rochelle on the road on Thursday night, followed by a home game against St. Joseph's (NY) on Saturday afternoon.
