The ACPHS women's basketball team lost their first conference game of the season on Sunday to Berkeley College, who outscored the Panthers by a mere three points to win 59-56.
Both teams traded baskets in the opening minutes of the game, but the Knights would go on an 8-0 run that would give them a 14-7 lead.
Alexa Schooley (20 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds) would score six of the Panthers next eight points to bring them within one point of Berkeley. The Knights fought back however and went on another 8-0 run. Despite Schooley scoring 10 points in the first half the Knights would finish the half up by 11.
The Panthers would not give up without a fight and clawed their way back in the second half as
Alyson Johnson and
Taylor Sullivan each scored all of their eight points in the second half.
With just three and a half minutes remaining in the game,a lay-up by
Kelsey Johnson(12 points 10 rebounds) would even the score. Berkeley answered back with a lay-up of their own to take back the lead but Schooley would once again even the score with 2:21 left on the clock.
With the clock winding down, Berkeley would drop a three point basket and a subsequent lay-up that would seal the victory for the Knights.
The Panthers finish their regular season with a record of 15-4 overall, and 4-1 in the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference.
