Albany, N.Y. -- The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences women's basketball team (11-2) defeated the visiting SUNY Delhi Broncos (2-13) on Monday afternoon at Albert M. White Gymnasium by a final score of 65-25. ACPHS led comfortably throughout the game to secure the win and bounce back from their first HVIAC conference loss of the season the day before, when they fell 44-38 at the hands of Berkeley College.
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead behind strong first-half performances from
Kelsey Johnson,
Alexa Schooley, and
Taylor Sullivan. ACPHS forced 18 turnovers in the first twenty minutes, leading to a 36-9 Panther advantage at the half which they did not relinquish after the break. The Panthers were led by Johnson's game-high 13 points. Schooley and Sullivan also contributed 12 and 10 points respectively, with 6 rebounds apiece. Delhi was led by Emily Caceres's 13 points, though she struggled from the floor, shooting just 6-29.
The Panthers return to action Wednesday night, when they will hit the road to take on St. Joseph's of Vermont, beginning a three-game stretch of conference matchups.
