Mitchell’s 21 Leads ACPHS Past Paul Smith’s

Box Score Albany, NY - Sophomore Allie Mitchell (Melrose, NY / Tamarac) went 4-5 from three and scored a game-high 21 in ACPHS' 79-29 win over Paul Smith's College. With the win, the Panthers remain undefeated for the season at 4-0 and go on to face University of Maine at Augusta in the Championship Game of the 2015 Panther Tip-Off. Paul Smith's College drops to 0-3, and will face Alfred State in the consolation game.

The Panthers put this one out of reach early, opening the game on a 21-0 run and finishing the first quarter up 26-3. In the middle of the early run, Mitchell scored eight straight points with two fast-break layups and a corner three. She finished with 10 in the quarter, adding two steals on two straight plays. The second quarter was the tightest, with the Panthers winning 15-11, which gave them a 27-point advantage going into the break. Mitchell hit three more threes in the second half, and the Panthers only let up 15 total points to coast to a 50-point win.

Mitchell finished with 21 points off the bench with a team-high six steals and four assists in 23 minutes. Graduate student Kristen McKeel (Massena, NY / Massena Central) also had a big game for the Panthers, scoring 17 points and adding one block, two steals, and three assists in 27 minutes. Freshman Katie Walker (Canton, CT / Canton) was third on the team with 10 points, with four boards and one steal. ACPHS out-rebounded Paul Smith's 50-35, and forced 30 turnovers. The Panthers shot 42.3% from the field (30-71) and 41.2% from beyond the arc (7-17). Paul Smith's Alexis Best led the team in scoring with 14 points on 4-20 shooting in the losing effort.

The Championship game of the 2015 Panther Tip-off starts at 2pm today, November 15th, at Albert M. White Gymnasium, with the Panthers looking to beat the UMA Moose. Paul Smith's looks to rebound against Alfred State in the consolation game at 12pm.
